Angel Carter Conrad is pregnant!

Angel, the twin sister of the late Aaron Carter, is expecting her second baby with her husband Corey Conrad, a rep for the couple confirms to PEOPLE. The happy news comes after a “long journey” for the couple, who underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF) to get pregnant again after previously welcoming daughter Harper, 7.

“We were fortunate to get pregnant naturally with Harper, but when we decided we wanted another baby, we discovered that IVF was the only option for us,” Angel tells PEOPLE exclusively. “We chose to take that leap, and we’re so grateful for where that journey has brought us.”

“Going through IVF gave us such a newfound respect for the women who’ve walked this road, especially those who have endured multiple rounds and so much uncertainty,” she continues. “It was such an emotional journey for us, and we feel incredibly grateful for this next chapter. Our baby is due in March, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome him into our family.”

Angel says sharing the news with her family was “so special,” especially since it took the couple a little longer to get pregnant again.

“Nick was particularly excited when we found out we were having a baby boy — it was such a sweet moment seeing how happy he was,” she shares. “The first trimester was really tough for me, both physically and emotionally, and I had to put a lot of focus on my mental health during that time.”

“It was a reminder of how important it is to take care of yourself and give yourself grace through big life changes. We’re just incredibly grateful to be here and so excited for this next chapter,” she adds.

No one is more excited for the family’s new addition than Angel’s daughter Harper, who is “over the moon” to be gaining a sibling.

“She’s wanted to be a big sister for so many years, and there were times when they didn’t know if it was going to happen for us,” says Angel. “We’ve always been very realistic with her about expectations, so seeing how excited she is now makes it even more special.”

“There will be an eight-year age gap, which I actually think is going to be really wonderful,” continues the proud mom. “She’s going to be such a big help, and we can’t wait to see their relationship grow.”

Angel and Corey have already started talking names, but are planning to keep things under wraps until their baby boy is here.

“We’d love to find a way to incorporate Corey’s initials, CC, into his name somehow, which would make it especially meaningful to our family,” she shares. “So there may be a little hint in there, but we’re not giving anything away just yet!”

Angel and Corey’s news comes just ahead of World Mental Health Day on Oct. 10 — a day that is extra important for the soon-to-be mom of two, who is also involved with The Kids Mental Health Foundation.

“The Kids Mental Health Foundation means everything to our family because so much of this work comes from our own loss,” she shares. “I’ve lost two sisters, my father, and my twin brother Aaron — all to addiction and mental health struggles — which is the motivation behind everything we do.”

“We want to honor them by being a vessel for their memory and turning that pain into purpose. They mattered, and we want to make sure they’re never forgotten,” continues Angel. “We want to create a world where kindness, love, respect and healthy boundaries are part of how we raise our children and how we treat one another.”

Since Angel and Corey have begun working with the foundation, they’ve raised over $1.8 million. Their annual Kids Mental Health Day at The Grove in Los Angeles has also continued to grow and has welcomed more than 3,500 families and community members.

It’s also important for Angel to keep the memory of her siblings alive as her family continues to grow.

“Keeping the memory of all of my siblings alive as we grow our family means creating a healthy space for our children to know who they were and understand how much they mattered to us,” she says. “As they get older, those conversations will become more age-appropriate, and they’ll learn more about their stories. I hope they can learn from the tragedies in our family and see how their parents chose to find good in something incredibly painful!”

“Our family has a platform, and I feel a responsibility to use it in a positive and meaningful way. After Aaron died, so many people reached out to tell me they checked themselves into rehab, started therapy, sought mental health support, or simply felt less alone,” continues Angel. “That has been remarkable and has given me so much purpose. If sharing our story can help one person choose to ask for help, then their lives and their memories are creating something good in the world.”
