- Actor Aaron Lazar's family is raising funds to pay for his healthcare through a GuFundMe campaign.
- The star who's worked on Broadway and in TV and films has struggled with ALS since 2022.
- Lazar accepted an award on behalf of fellow ALS patient Eric Dane in January.
Broadway, TV, and film actor Aaron Lazar, 50, is struggling with ALS-related healthcare costs of more than $300,000 per year.
Lazar's brother Chad and father Paul are raising money on GoFundMe to help cover his treatment and care. As of late Wednesday, the campaign had amassed more than $315,000.
"Since January of 2022, Aaron has been in the fight of his life against ALS, a terminal neurological disease that progressively steals a person's ability to walk, speak, eat, use their hands, and breathe on their own," the campaign message reads. "There is currently no cure for ALS. Most people would see this diagnosis and its burdens as the end of a dream. Yet Aaron has chosen a different path, dedicating himself to what he calls 'The Impossible Dream,' his commitment to living with hope, determination, faith, and love."

Lazar "has inspired audiences as a singer and actor. But to those who love him most, Aaron is a devoted father to his two teenage sons, a loving son and brother, and a loyal friend," the organizers wrote.
On the stage, Lazar has worked on productions such as *A Little Night Music* and *Dear Evan Hansen*. Over the past two decades, his TV and movie work has included *The Wolf of Wall Street*, *Avengers: End Game*, *Girl Meets World*, and *All My Children*, and more. His last on-screen appearance was on three episodes of the Prime series *Countdown*, which starred Jensen Ackles and the late Eric Dane, in 2025.

The actor's loved ones noted that, while Lazar is determined, he needs support.
"Aaron has lost the use of his legs, arms, and hands. He requires a BIPAP machine to breathe and a full-time caregiver at his side to help him throughout the day and night," they noted. "With his increased needs, the cost of full-time caregiving, medical equipment, and specialized therapies has grown to more than $300,000 every year. Aaron's ability to generate income for his family is severely limited. He needs help to stay in the fight."

The goal, they said, is to provide Lazar and his sons with "stability, comfort, and peace of mind while ensuring these enormous financial burdens do not stand in the way of his journey," making it possible for Lazar to "focus on what matters most: spending meaningful time with his children and the people he loves, and empowering Aaron to continue his brave, hopeful fight."
In January, Lazar attended the ALS Network's Champions for Cures and Care gala in Pasadena where he accepted the Advocate of the Year Award on behalf of Dane, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2024 and was unable to attend.
