Alix Earle is sharing a wild claim about her reading habits.In a clip shared on Instagram, Interview Magazine’s editor-in-chief, Mel Ottenberg, asked Earle during a Q&A what the last book she read was.However, Earle, 25, shocked viewers by replying, ā€œI’ve never read a book. Like, maybe Dr. Seuss?ā€

Earle answered a few other questions, like whether she preferred platinum or dirty blonde hair, the song that always makes her feel hot and the most underrated thing about being famous, as well as a few questions about her dating life.However, commenters instantly became fixated on Earle’s claim about her literary habits.ā€œNot having read a book since elementary school is not ditsy and cute, it’s embarrassing asfšŸ’€,ā€ wrote one user.

Others pointed out the more serious implications of Earle’s claim: ā€œPSA during this literacy crisis: READING MAKES YOU HOT AND COOL.ā€A PopCrave tweet with Earle’s confession has also since gone viral, racking up over 460,000 views and bringing the discourse to Twitter.

For her part, Earle reposted a screenshot of PopCrave’s tweet to her Instagram story, writing ā€œThis is sending me.ā€

Some defended Earle, with one user writing, ā€œSounds silly, but I don’t think either one of my kids have read a book. I mean other than textbooks.ā€Others were skeptical, pointing out that Earle had attended the University of Miami for college. One Twitter user commented, ā€œI have a really hard time believing you make it through four years of college without reading a book? So….is she being serious and thinks this is cute? Is this a bit that she thinks is cute? Either way it’s not cute. This is alarming.ā€
