As Taylor Swift prepares to marry Travis Kelce, speculation about her friendship with Blake Lively's continues.

Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, were spotted in Lake Placid, New York — nearly 300 miles from the city — on Thursday as wedding festivities began at Madison Square Garden. According to TMZ, the pair attended their 6-year-old daughter Betty's horse show at a local farm.

Whether Lively and Reynolds are among the reported 1,000 guests set to attend Friday's reception remains to be seen, but prior to Lively's legal battle with her* It Ends With Us* director Justin Baldoni, the couple likely would have been at Thursday's rehearsal dinner. Swift's close friends, including Jack Antonoff and Lena Dunham, were among those spotted on Thursday.

The ladies' relationship soured after Swift was name-dropped in Lively's lawsuit and personal details and texts about their friendship were made public. Although the contentious case reached a settlement outside of court in May, the damage was seemingly done.

“Blake understands why she wouldn’t be invited and that it would be a media frenzy,” an insider told *Us Weekly*. “She also understands that she and Taylor don’t have the same level of friendship they once had. She isn’t upset about not being invited, but of course, she would love to be there to support her and Travis.”

In messages released during the legal battle between Lively and Baldoni, which PEOPLE obtained, Swift admitted to "feeling a little bit of a shift" in the way Lively talked to her and confessed that it "caused a little distance" between them.

"I feel really bad saying anything about this because your texts have been so nice in their intent but your last few... it's felt like I was reading a mass corporate email sent to 200 employees," Swift allegedly wrote in a text to Lively. "And it feels awful to be in any way critical of any way you process what you've been going through but I just kinda miss my funny, dark, normal-speaking friend who talks to me as herself... And I know you feel attacked from all sides for ridiculous reasons so you're feeling like you have to overly explain things... but. It's me! That's just caused a little distance. And you don't need to apologize. Just come back please."

Lively allegedly responded to Swift, telling her she's "become digitally paranoid" and has "felt so deeply misunderstood that I don't trust my judgement of myself anymore." She added, "This f---ing guy and what he did to me gave me an identity crisis. Legitimately."

Swift and Lively initially connected in 2015, and went on to form a very public friendship. Swift is the godparent to Lively and Reynolds' children, and famously featured some of their voices and names in her song "Gorgeous" and on her album *Folklore*. Lively also made her directorial debut with Swift's music video for "I Bet You Think About Me."

The women also partied together at many Fourth of July celebrations in Rhode Island over the years, and enjoyed frequent dinner dates in New York City.

Of her relationship with Reynolds, Swift celebrated the release of *Deadpool & Wolverine* in 2024, writing on social media, "Over the past few years I have watched one of my best friends on this planet pour every bit of his heart, soul, sweat, time, energy, jokes, pain, joy, rebellion, darkness, and magic into this film. He's created the best work of his life, and this film feels like an actual joy portal, a wild escape from reality, and an abs sandwich. I don't know how he did it. But that's just Hugh for you!" referencing Reynolds' costar, Hugh Jackman.

Lively shared the post on her own Instagram Stories, writing, "Thank you @taylorswift for honoring my guy(s). I couldn't have said it better myself. Which is unsurprising given that I have 14 less grammys and not a single sold out stadium world tour."

Before their friendship fallout, Lively attended a few of Kansas City Chiefs star Kelce's NFL games with Swift, who started dating the tight end in summer 2023. Kelce and Swift got engaged last August and kept their wedding plans mostly under wraps until the big day.
