A male cast member on Married at First Sight U.K. was arrested last month on suspicion of rape, according to a new BBC report

Channel 4, which streams the reality series, pulled all seasons of the show from its platform after allegations of rape and sexual assault by contestants surfaced in May

An external review into welfare concerns on the series was launched in April

A male cast member on Married at First Sight U.K. has been arrested on suspicion of rape, according to a new report.

BBC News reported on Thursday, July 2 that Metropolitan police officers arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of rape on June 18. The police force said the arrest is part of an “ongoing investigation being led by the Met Police.”

The identities of the suspect and alleged victim or victims have not been made public. PEOPLE has reached out to the Metropolitan Police Service for comment.

The arrest comes after two female contestants on the reality series alleged in a BBC report published in May that they were raped by their husbands while filming the show. A third woman claimed she experienced a non-consensual sex act.

Following the release of the BBC report, Channel 4 pulled all seasons of the series from streaming services.

The women told the BBC they were not protected by the show after sharing the allegations with CPL, the independent production company behind the series. CPL said it followed appropriate welfare protocols in every case.

In a statement shared after the BBC report was published, Channel 4 said it had launched an external review in April into welfare concerns on the program “after being presented with serious allegations of wrongdoing against a small number of past contributors, allegations that we understand those contributors have denied."

The streamer said at the time that the review was ongoing, with its findings expected in the “coming months.”

“I want to express my sympathy to contributors who have clearly been distressed after taking part in Married at First Sight U.K. The wellbeing of our contributors is always of paramount importance,” Channel 4's chief executive Priya Dogra previously said.

PEOPLE reached out to Channel 4 for comment on the arrest but did not hear back by publication time.

Married at First Sight U.K. is a reality series where relationship experts match single people who meet for the very first time at the altar. After they wed as strangers, they head out on a honeymoon, move in together, and, finally, make a decision between happily ever after and divorce.
