On Saturday night in central Pennsylvania, roughly 110,000 fans will cram inside a stadium to watch one of the most anticipated games of the 2025 college football season, with nearly all of them wearing white.
No. 2 Penn State will be staging one of its famed White Outs on Sept. 27, when it hosts No. 5 Oregon at Beaver Stadium in University Park, Pennsylvania, a matchup with significant Big Ten championship and College Football Playoff ramifications.
Just how big of a deal is it? Members of ESPN’s “College GameDay” crew decided even they wanted to take part in the all-white festivities.

The stylistic choice allowed them to mirror the largely all-white crowd gathered behind them and added to the festive mood in State College. It drew its fair share of jokes, too, with users on social media comparing the pundits in their all-white get-ups to musical groups like Boyz II Men and the Backstreet Boys.

Saturday’s game between the Nittany Lions and Ducks is a rematch of last season’s Big Ten championship game, which Oregon won 45-37 to cap off an undefeated regular season. Despite coach James Franklin’s well-documented struggles against top-five opponents, Penn State has won six consecutive White Outs, with its last loss coming to Ohio State in 2018.
