Derrick Henry wants the Baltimore Ravens to be his final NFL team, but the star running back does not want anyone interpreting that preference as an indication that retirement is approaching. During a training camp interview with Kay Adams on “Up & Adams,” Henry expressed his desire to finish his playing career in Baltimore. Adams later characterized the comments as Henry wanting to retire as a member of the Ravens.
Henry responded on social media by clarifying the distinction between wanting Baltimore to be his final stop and actively considering the end of his career.
“I would like to finish my playing career with the Ravens,” Henry wrote. “Never said anything about retiring lol I’m enjoying being a Raven. I’ll worry about that retirement sh— later.”
Henry subsequently deleted the post, but his message was clear. He remains committed to Baltimore and would prefer not to play for another organization before his career ends. However, he is not operating with a retirement timeline or suggesting that his final season is approaching.

The clarification should be encouraging for the Ravens, who continue to build their offense around Henry and two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson. Henry’s physical running style and experience remain central to Baltimore’s offensive identity under coordinator Declan Doyle. Henry has previously discussed his desire to conclude his career with the Ravens, including saying in February 2025 that he wanted to “retire a Raven.” His latest response appears focused primarily on correcting any suggestion that retirement is imminent.
For Henry, the emphasis remains on football. He is enjoying his time in Baltimore, preparing for another season and putting retirement discussions on hold for a much later date.
