Duchess Sophie traded her signature long blonde hair for a shocking chop on July 1.
The 61-year-old showed off her shortest haircut since July 2011 at the Groundswell Regenerative Agriculture Festival.
Sophie also brightened up her honey blonde bob, giving her new haircut a Princess Diana-coded update.
Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, is kicking off July with her shortest haircut in nearly 15 years. The 61-year-old had royal watchers doing a double take as she unveiled a shocking chin-grazing bob and an icy blonde refresh while attending the Groundswell Regenerative Agriculture Festival on July 1.

Sophie revealed she’d chopped several inches off her signature long honey blonde locks at the Lannock Farm event in Hitchin, England.
The royal looked like the ultimate cool girl in the modern chop, which she styled in a sleek blowout with the blunt ends curved towards her face and an effortless side part. It also looked like she brightened up her blonde hair color from her recent appearances at the 2026 Royal Ascot and the Sandringham Horse Driving Trials, debuting an all-over platinum blonde hue.

The Duchess of Edinburgh, who is married to Prince Edward, leaned into the agricultural theme of the festival with a boho look. She pushed back her freshly-shorn locks with a pair of black Sting Eyewear sunglasses and tapped Penelope Chilvers for her cornflower blue blouse—which featured puffy short sleeves and a roomy silhouette—and a midi-length denim bell skirt with subtle pleats.

A pair of cognac suede leather cowboy boots embellished with shimmering embroidered patterns finished off her look. The mom-of-two added some shine with a brown crocodile leather and gold chain link Lowe watch, which she paired with a dainty Asprey oak leaf bracelet and a pair of gold Giulia Barela hoop earrings. A delicate gold pendant necklace and layered gold bracelets gave her mid-day look some extra glamour.
Sophie’s new chin-grazing haircut is her shortest chop since the then-Countess of Wessex debuted a bob on July 29, 2011 at Zara and Mike Tindall’s pre-wedding reception.
While joining the rest of the royal family on board the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh, Scotland, she styled her last bob haircut in a 2010s-era deep side part. Sophie paired her beauty look with a sleeveless peach-hued bodycon sheath dress featuring strips of pleating on the shoulders and a belt around her upper rib cage.
