Former Dolphins second-round pick announces retirement after 8 seasons

At this point in the offseason, several players who have yet to find a team to play for in 2026 are mulling over their futures, and that list had included former Miami Dolphins linebacker Raekwon McMillan.

However, the 30-year-old took to social media to announce his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday.

"Always for the name on the back of my jersey," McMillan wrote in the caption on the Instagram post. "8 years flew by but this next chapter is going to be my best chapter. I hope I made y’all proud!"

Miami took McMillan in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft out of Ohio State, where all he earned All-Big Ten honors twice, All-American honors once and won a national championship.

He spent three years with the Dolphins, recording 177 tackles, two quarterbacks, two passes defensed, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

McMillan went on to play for the Las Vegas Raiders (2020), New England Patriots (2021-24) and Tennessee Titans (2024). He finished his career with 285 tackles (15 for a loss), four passes defensed, three quarterback hits, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and a sack.
