The men's World Cup Final, for all intents and purposes, is the biggest event there is in professional sports. To be sure, that's not a shock for the global game of soccer, which is obviously played by everyone around the world.
Nonetheless, the audience numbers for the final are usually quite staggering. In fact, it honestly dwarfs the usual 100-million-plus viewership for the Super Bowl.
While we won't know exactly how many people will watch Sunday's championship match between Lionel Messi's Argentina and Spain's Lamine Yamal until after it concludes, we can get a healthy estimate based on previous finals. For example, roughly 1.5 billion people worldwide watched Argentina defeat France in the 2022 World Cup Final. And around a billion people each tuned into both the 2014 and 2018 final matches.

It stands to reason we will see at least a billion watch on Sunday. And with it being Messi's last match for Argentina, it might be safe to expect the number of people watching around the world to be even larger than in 2022. Broaching the two-billion audience mark could be in play.
