Jean Smart may be hanging up Deborah Vance's sequins, but she isn't leaving the Hacks set empty-handed.

During the season 5 premiere of the Emmy Award-winning dramedy in Los Angeles on April 8, PEOPLE caught up with the 74-year-old actress about the ending of the show.

“Somebody just reminded me, ‘Well, this is your last premiere for Deborah.' I was like, oh my God, all these lasts. All these firsts and now we have all these lasts. It's weird,” Smart shared, calling the event "very bittersweet."

The actress, who won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series four times for her performance, also reflected on her final few days on set.

“We'd be shooting a scene and they'd go, ‘Okay, that's a wrap on Deborah's bedroom.' You go, ‘Whoa, what? That's one of my favorite rooms on the whole set. This is the last time?'” she recalls. “Then they go, ‘Okay, that's a wrap on Deborah's kitchen.' I was like, ‘No, no, no, this island is mine! This is my fantasy island.'”

But luckily for Smart, there was one set piece she was able to sneak away.

“Is HBO listening?” Smart teases before revealing she took “some drapes” from her character's bedroom.

As for where they're going now, Smart reveals, “to my bedroom!"

“I took [Ava's] driver's license and her credit card and her hospital bracelet, and a lot of her clothes” the Emmy-winner, 30, says, adding she keeps the small items “safe” in her “little jewelry box.”

Show creators Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs and Jen Statsky even kept some mementos of their own.

“A lot of stuff,” Aniello tells PEOPLE of the things she nabbed.

“We took pepper shakers from Deborah's salt and pepper shaker [collection],” Downs, who plays Jimmy LuSaque Jr. in the series, says referring to Vance's large array of kitchen accessories.
