Jets place former fourth-round pick, Georgia WR on injured reserve

The New York Jets will be without one of their key special teams players for the entire season. Jets wide receiver Arian Smith, a fourth-round 2025 NFL draft pick from the Georgia Bulldogs, has been ruled out for the year.
Smith suffered a torn ACL and has already had surgery on his injury. Smith will look to return for the 2027 NFL season. New York placed Smith on injured reserve.
"He'll be out for the year," Jets coach Aaron Glenn said on Smith. "Tough, but he'll bounce back very well."
Smith had a minimal role in New York's passing game to start the season. He posted no receptions and on one target. The speedy receiver had played 24 snaps this season with 21 of them being on special teams. Smith already had two tackles on special teams.

The 6-foot, 180-pound receiver will look to regain his speed in his ACL recovery. Smith posted seven catches for 52 yards and four carries for 13 yards during his rookie season in 2025. He faces the challenge of trying to have a larger role in the future while having to recover from a major injury.
Smith suffered the ACL injury in the Jets' Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers. During Smith's final season at Georgia in 2024, he posted 817 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
