Jill Biden recalled being shocked when she first learned about Kamala Harris’s loss in the 2024 presidential election to Donald Trump. She also made a rather disappointing confession that she has no hope for a woman president in her lifetime. This comes amid speculations of an ongoing feud between the two women ever since her husband, Joe Biden, had opted out of the presidential race.
During her appearance on SiriusXM’s Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa on August 5, 2026, Jill remembered feeling extremely flabbergasted at Kamala’s loss and pondered the possibility of a future woman president.
Jill Biden Has No Hope of Seeing a Female President in Her Lifetime
When the host asked her whether she feels that she will witness a female president during her lifetime, the former first lady said, “In my lifetime? I’m 75. I feel like probably not in my lifetime, Kelly, but maybe in yours.”
Jill added how she almost thought that Kamala Harris would defeat Donald Trump to become the first U.S. woman president. She said, “I really did think last time that Kamala was gonna win. I was out on the campaign trail for her. I saw the excitement, I saw the crowds, I saw it at the convention. I saw all the energy, and I thought, Finally, we’re going to have a woman president.”
The former FLOTUS remembered being in a state of sheer shock and disbelief when she, on the contrary, learned that Harris lost to Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
Jill Biden added, “And I must tell you, I was shocked the morning after when I got up at 5:00 in the morning to feed Willow and get ready for the day, and I found out that she had lost. Shocked.”
However, this comes amid repeated speculation of Harris having an ongoing rift with the former educator. It is rumored that this conflict between the two women began after Joe Biden stepped down from the 2024 presidential election race.

Reportedly, the former vice president wanted an “immediate endorsement” from Biden, which did not go down well with his wife. Jill Biden is also said to have mentioned “storming out” of the room when the incident occurred in her 2026 memoir, View From the East Wing.
While talking about the book, journalist Paola Ramos also quipped to Jill about the incident where she said, “There’s this one moment in the book that I think a lot of people are talking about, when you describe that when President Biden was talking about stepping down and endorsing her, you walk out. You walk out of the room because she wanted an immediate endorsement, and you storm out.”
However, correcting Ramos, the Biden Foundation co-founder said, “I didn’t say storm; Joe had made the decision to drop out. It was very emotional, you might well imagine.”
If this was not enough, Kamala Harris further aggravated the rumors of the beef when she mentioned in her 2025 memoir 107 Days about the “lack of support” that she had received from Jill and Joe Biden as well as their inner circle while she was running against Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
