Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt tells PEOPLE in an exclusive interview that husband Chris Pratt's "humor" helps their family in tough times
"Even when not funny, someone who can also make you laugh in a really hard time is really important," the author says of her actor husband

The Schwarzenegger-Pratt household gets by with laughter.
Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt says husband Chris Pratt's "humor" helps their family in their day-to-day lives, especially when it comes to overcoming hardships.
"For a variety of reasons, I'm grateful that I married Chris. But one of them ... [is] being able to have someone who brings humor in challenging times," the author, 36, tells PEOPLE in an exclusive interview.
"Even when not funny, someone who can also make you laugh in a really hard time is really important," Katherine continues.
"He definitely does that, so I'm really grateful for that," she adds of her actor husband, 46.

A year after they started dating, Katherine and Chris got married in June 2019 during an intimate ceremony in Montecito, Calif.
The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Lyla Maria, in 2020, and daughter Eloise Christina followed in 2022. In 2024, the couple welcomed a son, Ford Fitzgerald. (Chris is also a dad to 13-year-old son Jack, whom he shares with ex-wife Anna Faris.)
According to Katherine, one big part of what makes her relationship with Chris work is "just knowing that we're teammates in so much of life, and especially in parenting, which has its ups and downs."

Recalling a recent instance when her household came down with the flu, Katherine tells PEOPLE Chris still kept their spirits lifted with his upbeat personality.
"I would say that he's definitely always really humor-filled. Even when he's sick, he's making jokes that make a rough situation or a rough week have some lighthearted moments," she says.
