KATSEYE's Sophia Laforteza Pulls Out of Group's European Tour Dates

Sophia Laforteza is continuing to make her wellbeing a priority.

Nearly one month after the KATSEYE member announced she would be going on hiatus, the group confirmed that her break will continue as they commence the European leg of their Wildworld Tour.

“We would like to share an update regarding Sophia’s upcoming schedule,” a statement from HYBE x Geffen Records shared to the girl group’s Instagram Stories on Aug. 30 read. “Sophia is focusing on her well-being, and the company remains fully committed to providing her with all the support and resources needed.”

“Sophia will not be participating in THE WILDWORLD TOUR in Europe and the UK scheduled from September 1 through September 17,” they added. “We sincerely ask for EYEKONS’ warm understanding, as our highest priority will always be the health and long-term well-being of our artists.”

The statement concluded, “We will share further updates as they become available. Please continue to send your love, warmth, and support to Sophia and KATSEYE.”

Laforteza shocked fans Aug. 7 after it was announced she would be temporarily stepping away from the girl group just six months after her bandmate Manon Bannerman announced she’d be going on a hiatus.

“We are very sorry to share that Sophia will be temporarily unable to participate in upcoming promotional activities,” an announcement from HYBE x Geffen Records shared to the girl group’s website read. “We understand how much EYEKONS were looking forward to seeing Sophia on stage, but it is imperative that her mental health and wellness are prioritized.”

The statement confirmed that Laforteza has been receiving the “utmost support,” however medical professionals advised that the 23-year-old “take dedicated time for extended rest and ongoing care to ensure a full recovery.”

As for her future with the group—which also features members Yoonchae, Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj and Megan Skiendiel—the management company stressed that “the health, safety, and long-term well-being of our artists will always remain our highest priority" and that her health would be reassessed come September.

Following both Laforteza and Bannerman’s hiatuses, their KATSEYE sisters proved they’ll always be more than colleagues.

“As KATSEYE, it’s so important to us to always prioritize our well-being,”Raj told Today’s Craig Melvin while on stage following the group’s performance Aug. 14. “We stand by Sophia and Manon through and through. We ride for them.”

When asked if they have a message for Laforteza and Bannerman, Raj shared, “We love you guys so much, always.”
