A routine appointment this morning turned into an unexpected scare for Lindsey Buckingham.
The former Fleetwood Mac guitarist was reportedly on his way into a building in Santa Monica on Wednesday when he was attacked by a woman and doused in an unknown substance. Buckingham, 76, was not injured.
NBC4 in Los Angeles was the first to report the incident, citing multiple law enforcement sources.
According to NBC4, the woman, “described by authorities as a stalking suspect,” threw an unknown substance at Buckingham and ran from the scene.
As of press time, authorities identified the suspect but had not yet made an arrest.
Neither LAPD nor representatives for Buckingham immediately responded to Entertainment Weekly’s request for comment.

Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac with his then-girlfriend Stevie Nicks in 1975, and the singer-guitarist went on to write some of the band's biggest hits, including "Go Your Own Way," "Big Love," and "Tusk." His on-again, off-again tenure with Fleetwood Mac officially ended ahead of their 2018 tour.

In October 2018, Buckingham sued for breach of fiduciary duty and breach of oral contract, claiming he was still owed his $12 million share of revenue for the tour.

Two months later, all parties settled. “I’m happy enough with it,” Buckingham told CBS This Morning in December 2018. “I’m not out there trying to twist the knife at all. I’m trying to look at this with some level of compassion, some level of wisdom.”
In 2021, he released his seventh solo album, Lindsey Buckingham.
