America’s second largest private residence, Oheka Castle, is heading to the auction block this October.
Completed in 1919, the Gilded Age residence was built by financier Otto Hermann Kahn to be used as a summer home. In the years since, the 109,000-square-foot, 127-room estate has become a wedding destination for celebrities. Kahn’s own daughter, socialite Maud, became the castle’s first bride when she walked down the aisle on June 15, 1920, according the castle’s official website.
Sitting on a hilltop in Huntington, New York on Long Island, the castle is built in the style of a French chateau, and has also been a popular filming destination for Hollywood. Oheka was featured on the big screen in Citizen Kane, and appeared on television shows including Gossip Girl, The Americans, Succession and The Diplomat. The iconic Long Island property also served as a backdrop for Taylor Swift’s music video for her song “Blank Space,” where the singer and her lover are pictured riding horses through a garden and enjoying a picnic.
The venue, which is currently owned by Gary Melius, is up for public auction and will be sold to the highest bidder in October after Melius filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The property is worth $92 million in assets, including the Oheka Castle Hotel & Estate and the 22 acres of land it sits on. Additionally, the castle is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a member of the Historic Hotels of America.

Kevin and Danielle Jonas

In 2009, Kevin Jonas married his longtime girlfriend Danielle at the Long Island property. The two, who first met on vacation with their families in May 2007, exchanged vows on Dec. 19 at Oheka Castle in an enchanted winter forest-themed ceremony.
Danielle wore a strapless tulle and Chantilly lace Vera Wang gown at their wedding, which was attended by 400 family members and friends, including Demi Lovato. Kevin’s brothers, Joe and Nick, served as his best men. Kevin and Danielle recited traditional vows and exchanged Jacob & Co. wedding bands they designed for one another.
In 2023, 13 years after they exchanged their vows, Kevin and Danielle told PEOPLE they still remember their wedding reception like it was yesterday.
“Through the craziness of the wedding day and all the planning, during our reception we found ourselves tucked in the corner only focusing on each other,” the couple said at the time.
“The quiet of finding each other in that moment showed that no matter how insane our lives will be, as long as we have one another we are happy.”
Kevin, 38, and Danielle, 40, went on to welcome two daughters — Alena Rose and Valentina Angelina.

Joey Fatone and Kelly Baldwin

Joey Fatone was the first *NSYNC member to marry when he tied the knot with his high school sweetheart Kelly Baldwin at Oheka Castle.
The two, who already shared daughter Briahna, married on Sept. 9, 2004. In 2007, Fatone told PEOPLE that he and Baldwin had done “everything backward.”
“We did everything backward,” Fatone said. “We had a kid, we lived together, then we got married. We did everything completely reversed and it worked!”

Baldwin also shared with PEOPLE that their daughter had been wondering when her parents were going to get married.
“She had been a flower girl and she was wondering what weddings were all about,” she remembered. “We said, ‘When two people love each other, they get married,’ and she said, ‘Are you and Daddy married?’ And I said no. She said, ‘Don’t you love my dad? Why aren’t you married?’ ”
Fatone, 49, and Baldwin, also 49, were together from 2004 to 2019, when they got divorced. Alongside Briahna, the former couple share daughter Kloey.

In October 2010, New York Jets running back Curtis Martin tied the knot with Carolina Williams at the picturesque venue.
According to the Canton Rep, Martin and Williams first met in 2000 when she worked in the video department for the New York State Police and was in the New York Jets offices to film a public service announcement.
Although there were reports that Martin’s wedding cost $1 million, the professional athlete dispelled these rumors while speaking with the outlet.
“I didn’t spend a million dollars on the wedding,” he shared. “But if you were there, you’d think it cost a million dollars. You could see why someone would assume that. I wouldn’t pay a million dollars for a wedding. I had a lot of help coordinating from the people there. The room just flowed well. It was seamless.”
Martin, 53, and Williams, 48, now share daughter Ava.

Megyn Kelly and Douglas Brunt

On March 1, 2008, Megyn Kelly and Douglas Brunt tied the knot at Oheka Castle in front of 130 guests. According to The New York Times, Kelly wore a Joanna Mastroianni gown during the ceremony, which was officiated by her colleague Kelly Wright.
In 2019, Brunt tweeted a photo from his 2008 wedding to the former Fox News and Today anchor, sharing a sweet note about his wife.
“@Guypbenson wedding made me remember our own in 2008,” Brunt began, referencing Kelly’s former Fox News co-worker Guy Benson’s wedding, which the couple attended.
“I love this amazing woman more every day,” the 55-year-old former business CEO and novelist added. “Years later, lots of laughs and blessed w/three beautiful kids. Can’t imagine living this life with anyone else – wish I could slow it down.”
Kelly, 55, and Brunt went on welcome three kids — Edward, Yardley, and Thatcher.
