Summitsphere and Joystick Ventures have released their explosive, fast-paced 2D platformer on Sony consoles today. The hit game was previously made available on Nintendo Switch and PC.

Antonblast is now available for PS5 and PS4 via the PlayStation Store. Summitsphere founder Tony Grayson directed the game and composed its soundtrack. The project began with a Kickstarter campaign that raised $144,566. Upon release in 2024, it went on to earn an 87/100 score on Metacritic, with critics praising its Game Boy Advance-inspired visuals and music.

Players step into the shoes of Dynamite Anton, or Annie, two demolition experts. Satan’s army of moles has stolen Anton’s Spirit collection, sending the duo on a journey to recover it. Players must also set detonators and escape each level before time runs out.

What makes Antonblast stand out from other modern platformers?

Unlike traditional platforming titles focused more on precise jumping, Antonblast brings its own focus on urban destruction and speed. Inspired by classic handheld titles like Wario Land and Crash Bandicoot, the game emphasizes destruction.

Anton can smash through environmental objects, enemies, and sections of each stage using his mighty hammer. His Clutch dash move also helps him build speed and join attacks together.

Levels also work differently in this game. They are designed around a dual-layer mechanic consisting of a foreground layer and a background layer. Players must navigate between them on springs to progress. The game includes 12 main levels, joined by hidden collectibles and time-based challenges.

Another key feature is the Happy Hour escape sequence. Once players reach the end of a stage, a detonator triggers a timed escape phase, forcing them to race back to the start before time runs out.

A part of the game’s description reads, “Your mission in every level is simple: SET Brulo’s Detonators, FIND Anton’s Spirit, and ESCAPE before happy hour ends!”

Antonblast is now available for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
