Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.) released a graphic photograph of his face covered in dried blood as he announced Saturday he was released from the hospital following a serious fall that left with nearly two dozen stitches.
“20 stitches later and a full recovery, I’m back home with @giselefetterman and the kids,” Fetterman, 56, wrote in a post to X.
“I’m overwhelmed + profoundly grateful for all the well-wishes.”

The Democratic senator shared a gnarly photo of his face covered in scabs with dried blood spanning from the bottom corner of his right eye, over his eyebrow and down his nose.
Fetterman was hospitalized Thursday “out of an abundance of caution” after falling on his morning walk in Braddock, Pa, according to a campaign spokesman.
He was diagnosed with a “ventricular fibrillation flare-up,” which is a potentially fatal condition where an irregular heartbeat causes blood not to be pumped correctly.
The Keystone State pol was treated at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and reported feeling “lightheaded” after the fall.
“If you thought my face looked bad before, wait until you see it now!” Fetterman joked in a statement Thursday.

“Grateful for @UPMC for the incredible medical care that put me back together. THANK YOU SO MUCH. See you back in DC,” he wrote Saturday.
Fetterman — who frequently clashes with his party — suffered a stroke during his 2022 Senate campaign that rendered him with ongoing communication difficulties.
The stroke left him with lingering auditory process impairment issues, but he has made substantial progress over the last three years. He also spent six weeks at Walter Reed Medical Center hospitalized for depression in 2023, early in his Senate term.
The incident occurred just two days into the media tour for his memoir “Unfettered,” which went in depth about his health problems and experience in Pennsylvania and DC politics.
The Pennsylvania Democrat revealed the cause of his ongoing feud with Pa. Gov. Josh Shapiro, and confessed he once called him a “f–king a–hole.”
The two had clashed during a 2020 Zoom hearing focused on commuting the sentences of two brothers convicted of murder while Fetterman served as lieutenant governor and Shapiro was governor.
Shapiro, he wrote, delivered a “very long-winded and unnecessary” before voting against commuting the sentences — which Fetterman favored — enraging the Democrat.
