- By the finale, justice is served and the case is closed.
No matter how warm and friendly your neighbors seem, you never know what's *really* happening behind closed doors. Netflix leans hard into that unsettling idea with its new miniseries *The Beast in Me*, which premiered on Nov. 13. And boy, do things spiral *fast*.
Executive produced by Jodie Foster and Conan O'Brien, the psychological thriller follows Aggie Wiggs (Claire Danes), a celebrated author who forms an unexpected friendship with her new neighbor, Nile Jarvis (Matthew Rhys). What starts as an ordinary connection slowly twists into something far more dangerous, dragging Aggie into a mess of secrets and bloodshed.
So how does *The Beast in Me* wrap it all up? Here's a breakdown of the show's ending.**
What is *The Beast in Me *about?

*The Beast in Me *centers on Aggie, a struggling writer now living alone in an upscale New York suburb. She's been stuck in a severe case of writer's block ever since her young son died in a car wreck caused by local teen Teddy Fenig (Bubba Weiler).
Things shift when a once-prolific businessman, Nile Jarvis, moves in next door with his pregnant wife, Nina (Brittany Snow). It turns out he moved after becoming entangled in a scandal involving his first wife, Madison (Leila George), who disappeared without a trace.
Aggie and Niles fall into an uneasy friendship. "You need to believe that a friendship is forged in a real way where two people who, although they may not admit it, are incredibly similar," Rhys told **. "They have great similarities and have endured tragedy, and that pushes them together. If you don't believe that they can be friends, then I don't think the show works."
After Aggie tells Nile about her son's death, she learns that Teddy is missing. The circumstances feel uncomfortably close to what happened to Madison, and Aggie starts to fear she's befriended a murderer. Still, she's drawn to him and even believes he might be the spark she needs to start writing again.

Yes, Nile killed his previous wife, Madison — but first, we need some context.
Aggie starts working with the FBI, teaming up with agent Brian Abbott (David Lyons), who once approached her and warned her to stay away from Nile. Together, the two try to figure out if Teddy and Madison's disappearances are connected; if they are, then it leads back to Nile.
To help with the investigation, Aggie continues to get closer to Nile and digs for anything she can use against him.

By episode 5, Aggie finally stumbles upon evidence that Nile murdered Madison. We see his motive in a flashback in episode 7: Madison had secretly been cooperating with the FBI in an investigation into Nile's shady dealings. When Nile discovered she was the mole, he killed her.
Aggie immediately texts Abbott with what she's found, but it's too late. Abbott already confronted Nile, who killed the FBI agent.
Nile grabs Abbott's phone, sees Aggie's texts, and realizes she knows the truth about him. While Aggie heads to Abbott's apartment to check up on him, Nile heads to Aggie's.

Nile initially keeps Teddy alive as leverage but ultimately kills the teen.
In episode 6, Aggie returns home, and Nile forces her to take a walk in the woods with him. The whole interaction is suspenseful, but luckily, Aggie manages to slip away and make it to her house.
Now inside, Aggie finds that Nile broke in and took a red pen to the first draft of her book, which he suggested she rename *The Beast in Me*. As she scans the edits, Aggie gets a call from Nile.
He brings up Teddy, claiming he could see that Aggie wanted him dead. "But I didn't know you had it in you… until I went upstairs," he says. Aggie heads upstairs, where she discovers that Nile killed Teddy and staged the scene inside Aggie's home to frame her.

By the finale, Aggie is on the run as authorities rush to her home to investigate Teddy's murder. But while things look grim for Aggie, Nile's life starts to crumble faster than ever. His fixer (and uncle), Rick (Tim Guinee), tells Nile's father, Martin (Jonathan Banks), about Nile's latest crimes, and the revelation is so devastating that the older man has a stroke and later dies.
Desperate to clear her name, Aggie seeks out Nina at work and tells her point-blank that she must already suspect that Niles murdered Madison. Before she leaves, Aggie lets Nina know she has already turned herself in, but urges Nina to expose Nile's crimes.
That night, Nina confronts Nile and lays out everything Aggie discovered, including Madison's supposed suicide note. Nile eventually admits to killing Madison; the next day, Nina reveals she recorded their conversation, and Nile is arrested.
Nile tries to maintain his innocence, but when his uncle Rick agrees to testify against him, he pleads guilty.
With the truth out, Aggie walks free, and her new book hits shelves months later. She even visits Nile in prison, and they chat for three whole hours.
"They really do connect," showrunner Howard Gordon told EW. "And I think when he says at the very end, 'I really liked you,' you believe it. You'll kind of feel for this guy even when he is turning the screw at the end."
The two even make plans to speak again, but that visit never comes.

In the show's final moments, Nile is stabbed to death by another inmate. "Uncle Rick wasn't content to let Nile live out his days in a prison jumpsuit," Aggie narrates, confirming that Rick arranged his murder.
We cut to Aggie reading from her new book, which details how Nile "soaked up [her] rage, and, like some dark angel, made manifest a wish too horrible to name, leaving another mother to grieve her son."
We then see Nile bleeding out on the floor. Before the episode fades to black, the next scene shows Nina reading Aggie's book at home before cradling her and Nile's son.
