Comedian and *The Middle *star Pat Finn's cause of death has been confirmed as cancer.
Finn died at the age of 60 on Dec. 22. A GoFundMe page set up by his loved ones a month before his death noted he was receiving ongoing treatment for bladder cancer, and his official death certificate, obtained by TMZ on Wednesday, confirms the disease as his cause of death.
Fundraiser organizers explained that Finn had "battled cancer on and off for the better part of three years," a "grueling and painful process" that brought his family together to act as a "rock of support for each other." At present, $194K has been raised on a goal of $230K.**

A representative for the comedian called him "the kindest, most joyful person in any room," who was "surrounded by his incredibly close and loving family and friends" in a statement shared with EW in the days after his death.
Finn enjoyed a full and varied career, one that was indeed marked by close friendships. He met both his wife Donna and best friend, *SNL *alum Chris Farley, at Marquette University in Wisconsin. The pair moved on to Chicago, where they frequently performed alongside each other and the famed Improv Olympic Chicago.**

Finn ascended to national prominence thanks to the role of Dan Coleman on the 1995 sitcom *The George Wendt Show*. He went on to turn in celebrated performances on series like *Murphy Brown*, *Friends*, *Seinfeld*, *2 Broke Girls*, and ABC's *The Middle*, where he played the amiable neighbor Bill Norwood for seven seasons.
Beyond big screen appearances in films like *Dude, Where's My Car?* and *I Love You, Beth Cooper*, Finn worked as an adjunct professor teaching improv for strategic communications at both Marquette and University of Colorado.**
In the weeks since his passing, Finn's friends, costars, and collaborators have poured out tributes to the funny man.
"Pat was beloved is a gross understatement. Finn's *Dealin' With Idiots *costar Richard Kind wrote on Instagram the same day, "There was no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter.
