Jake Worthington has been on the road as part of Zach Top’s Cold Beer & Country Music Tour, but he was barred from performing his show in Canada over the weekend.
The traditional-leaning country singer and former Season 6 The Voice runner-up took to his Instagram Stories to let folks know that he had to pull out of his show, but the decision wasn’t up to him. Instead, he blamed the absence on past troubles in Texas that still haunt him to this day.
“Hey Canada, I’ve got some awful, awful news. I will not be able to get into your country and do this show with my brother Zach tonight down there in Vancouver,” Worthington, 29, announced in a story on Instagram ahead of the concert. “Unfortunately, I got into some trouble a handful of years ago back in Texas, and it just keeps following me around like a bad toe fungus.”
The Country Artist Apologized to His Fans
The LaPorte, Texas native went on to share his deepest apologies and also revealed that a few people in his circle have tried everything they could to get him on the stage in the Great White North.
“I apologize, I cannot make it to my obligations today. I will be back soon,” he promised. “Thank you to all of my friends and partners who tried to make it all happen this morning. I’ll see you on the flipside, homie.”
Jake Worthington Didn’t Dish Out Any Further Details About His Past Troubles
Worthington didn’t go into any further details about his past troubles, but he has previously released music that highlights his run-in with the law. The Big Loud Texas singer/songwriter’s song “It Ain’t The Whiskey,” penned alongside Will Banister, Jeff Hyde, and Roger Springer, actually playfully recounts an encounter he once had with a cop.
“A funny thing was around the time I wrote this, my wife came with me to go play a show in Texas, and we got pulled over speeding somewhere, anywho, long story short, that first year of being married to Sophia, we found ourselves in the back of a cop car,” Worthington told Country Now. “It just created all kinds of a fiasco for us. But, months later, Jeff, Roger, and Will had called me up, and we talked about it.”
The Country Singer Has More Shows Scheduled Throughout the Year
Worthington’s show in support of Top was set to take place at Rogers Arena Sunday, Nov. 15, in Vancouver, British Columbia. Though the show went on as planned, it is unclear who took Worthington’s place as a special guest for the evening.
Despite the unplanned cancellation, Worthington will likely resume his run of shows on Top’s Cold Beer & Country Music Tour. Those performances take place stateside, with the next stop occurring on Nov. 22 at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, WA. For a full list of tour dates, visit Worthington’s official website, HERE.
