Greg Proops says working on True Jackson, VP was a joyful experience with a talented cast and crew
Proops recalls Keke Palmer and Ashley Argota playfully teasing him about his age on set
He praises Palmer’s intellect, versatility and career success, calling her a highly motivated and astonishing talent
Greg Proops “adored” being on True Jackson, VP.
The Whose Line Is It Anyway? comedian, 66, tells PEOPLE he was “thrilled to be on the show" alongside Keke Palmer and Ashley Argota, who used to joke with Proops about how old he was “all the time, of course.”
“I would see Ashley and Keke in the corner with their heads together, caballing, to come up with some joke for me," he recalls. "Then they would walk over to me and go, ‘What was Abraham Lincoln like?’ They were forever making fun of me like that."
Nonetheless, Proops admires how much both actresses have been through and still came out on top.

“They'd had a very rarefied life and the fact that they've come out as talented and as they are is a real triumph because they've had a lot of adversity," he says. "It's not easy being a teen star, especially with all the craziness that happened."
His time on the show “was so much fun to do, it was a really lovely set and we really laughed a lot.”
“Our producers were wonderful, and we had a lot of great writers, and I enjoyed going to work every week," he continues. "I wish that it had run a couple more years, to be honest, because I really enjoyed doing it."

Proops played Palmer's eccentric boss, Max Madigan, who hired the actress’s hardworking character, True Jackson, to help run his fictional fashion company.
The actor notes that the show somewhat mirrored real life, as Palmer, then just 15, was trusted to lead a major Nickelodeon series.
“It was really amazing to have a grown person trust a young woman to do all these things and then have her creativity and drive be the thing that pushed the show forward,” Proops shares. “She's a highly motivated and articulate woman. She's an astonishing intellect and I've seen her take three pages of dialogue, look at it, and then go, ‘Okay, I'm ready to go.’ ”

Along with her acting chops, Proops adds that Palmer is also "a superb singer and dancer."
“Keke is astonishing because she's a very good comedian. She's also quite a good dramatic actor. She's a wonderful singer and dancer, too. She's killing it," he continues. "She's got a new movie out. She's always got a new movie out. I used to write her every once in a while, and every once in a while I still do, and she's always very friendly.”
In addition to Proops, Palmer and Argota, the sitcom, which ran from 2008 to 2011, starred Matt Shively, Dan Kopelman, Robbie Amell and Danielle Bisutti, to name a few.
"They were all really horribly overtalented. It was just intimidating how talented these kids were," Proops adds.
