White House to host first press briefing in over 40 days

The White House will host a press briefing on Thursday, marking the first briefing in over 40 days.
A White House official who confirmed the plans did not specify who would be briefing the press.
News of the upcoming briefing comes days after former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt wrapped up her final day in the role. Leavitt will continue to serve as an outside adviser to President Trump and will work with his super PAC MAGA Inc.

When Leavitt went on a roughly monthlong maternity leave earlier this year, a cast of characters from the administration took to the podium to brief the press, including Vice President Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
It’s unclear who will replace Leavitt, but a number of names have been floated. Potential contenders include CNN commentator Scott Jennings and former U.S. Attorney for the district of New Jersey Alina Habba.
Trump has given no indication he is in a rush to replace Leavitt, who said on her final day as press secretary that the president is “his own best spokesperson.”
